Becoming confident communicators

In the early years EduDrama® is about making learning as natural and engaging as play. It is language in action – a connection of stories, music, and characters brought to life to capture the imagination of children.

As they get older, students learn about collaboration and creativity in an individualised, child-centric environment. Language skills are honed through a thematically structured curriculum, giving students opportunities to approach problems and find solution that deepen their communication skills, while Julia Gabriel Preschool’s unique Edudrama® methodology enables the discovery and development of the faculties and stimulates learning.

Enabling a love of reading and writing through experiential learning

A world of language opens up as Nursery children begin their experiential learning journey to acquire skills leading up to reading and writing. Based on Julia Gabriel’s own Alphabet Zoo book and characters children are immersed in language through a multi-sensorial experience involving drama, language games, expressive speaking, music and stories. This beginning exposure enables children to experience language holistically heightening their literacy skills and enabling them to:

• Recognise and name letters
• Appreciate and understand stories
• Develop a stronger vocabulary
• Link letters and sounds (phonemic and phonetic awareness)

At Kindergarten level the programme fosters a love of reading and writing through experiential learning. Children hone their reading and decoding skills, improving both oral and written skills. Using a specially selected reading scheme children are motivated and their interest in books ignited at a young age. We enable students to

• Talk about stories and share their thoughts with confidence
• Begin to blend sounds and form words independently
• Grasp the use of tenses and punctuation
• Develop an awareness of sentence structures
• Plan, draft and write simple stories
